Qual - Air Observer (6 credits)
Course Description
As the basic qualification of the Coast Guard Auxiliary aviation program, this enables students to assist in air operations, including providing situational awareness, search and rescue, and other missions
Pass Criteria: Students must first submit an “Air Program Questionnaire” to the District Staff Officer for Aviation (DSO-AV). Students must complete ICS courses, pass the Pilot Test “A” on the National Testing Center website, and submit a request for a direct operations security clearance before they are allowed to begin training. Once this has been completed, students will be required to complete a swim test and egress training, attend a safety seminar, complete crew resource management training, and fly for 10 hours to become fully qualified as an Air Observer.
