From: DVC-SP
Subj: INTERNS FOR STRATEGIC FORESIGHT INITIATIVE (EVERGREEN) - 9/15

Department: USCGAUX Strategic Planning Directorate, Strategic Planning Division
Position: Intern-Evergreen Project
Location: Virtual assignment, opportunity to work at USCG Headquarters
Start Date: 20MAY2015

1. Position Description
We are assembling a team of 2-4 high achieving AUP students to intern with the Coast Guard’s Evergreen strategic foresight initiative. Evergreen is the organization’s main process for identification and analysis of future drivers and trends that shape our strategic outlook. It is indispensable in development and ongoing refinement of the strategic direction for the entire Coast Guard (active duty, reserve, auxiliary, and civilian).

2. Assignment and Duties
Students will work directly with the active duty and auxiliary program managers for this project. Work may be conducted virtually or in person at Coast Guard Headquarters for those local in Washington, DC. Duties will primarily be research and writing support, as well as participation in ongoing group discussions with an immediate focus on topics such as the Arctic, U.S. energy renaissance, cyber, and the Western Hemisphere. This is an excellent opportunity for students interested in weighty strategic issues that will impact the entire Coast Guard for years to come.

3. Requirements
Students wishing to apply should send their resume and a writing sample to Thomas.Jacobsmeyer@cgauxnet.us no later than 25 April 2015. Strong research, writing and project analysis experience will identify the successful candidate. The expectation is that students will commit to supporting the team from at least 1 June through 15 August, though service beyond that date is encouraged.

4. Successful completion of these internships will meet the leadership capstone requirement of AUP 302 (Internship), provided that the selected students complete and submit the required documentation.

5. BA-SUPA sends.

This mailing list is a one-way list from the Auxiliary University Programs (AUP) Division to all AUP students, staff, and instructors. Questions need to be routed through the appropriate Chain of Leadership and Management.
